CONCRETE: When Do You Know Your Concrete Is Dry?: Claudia Lezell

KEYWORDS continuing education / moisture detection and monitoring / Restoration Technical Institute
3/31/22 to 12/31/22
Interactive eLearning Course
Contact: Rebecca Burkert

2 IICRC CEC - This eLearning program is based on the successful article, Concrete - When Do You Know It’s Dry? by Claudia Lezell.

The main objective is to show that concrete is a unique building material, and that it is often misunderstood and/or overlooked when it comes to drying.

Many terms and concepts are covered on the topic of concrete, including the differences between curing, hydration, and drying. Students learn what a vapor barrier/retarder is, and they will learn about moisture meters and testing concrete. They will review studies and research by Goran Hedenblad on the topic and they will learn that it’s not so easy to say your concrete is dry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discover the components of concrete and concrete construction: Portland cement, mixing water, aggregates and admixtures
  • Explain why concrete is such a misunderstood material
  • Explore related research (Gorhan Hedenblad) – drying times of newly-placed concrete and mature concrete
  • Predict when concrete will be dry (it depends on what you’re going to cover it with!!!)

You must earn an 80% or higher to receive your certificate!
